The long run
XNA from Fort Smith and the River Valley
XNA sits off Highway 612 near Highfill. From Fort Smith that is a full interstate drive, not a quick errand. Plan on an hour and fifteen minutes in good weather.
Two things slow that trip down. Fog on the mountain grade between Alma and Winslow, common on spring and fall mornings. Ice on the same stretch in January. That is why we book early XNA trips the night before. When the forecast is bad we leave earlier instead of driving faster.

FSM is a small two-gate airport behind the industrial area off Phoenix Avenue. From a downtown hotel it is a ten-minute drive on a clear afternoon. The catch is the schedule. The first flights leave early, and connections through Dallas and Atlanta mean a lot of 4:30 a.m. pickups. We work overnight, so that booking is normal for us.
